Welcome to
ELITE WEST Volleyball
Our Vision is to create an environment where each athlete can identify and develop their unique gifts, talents and abilities to the fullest extent possible, both as a volleyball player and as a person. We strive to place athletes in positions where those abilities contribute to the success of the team, reinforcing that individual achievement is ultimately realized through the development, execution and success of the team.
Overview
Founded in 1981 by former University of Calgary Dinos coach Brad Kilb, Elite West Volleyball Club is Calgary’s premier boys' volleyball program, dedicated to athlete development and competitive excellence. Today the program is led by Fraser MacLeod, a seasoned coach with more than 30 years of experience across club, provincial and post-secondary volleyball, including success at the national and international levels.

Both teams compete in the Alberta Volleyball Association tournaments, including Provincial Championships, and attend Volleyball Canada Nationals. Training is modelled on leading Canadian post-secondary programs, preparing athletes for the demands of higher levels of competition.

“It is difficult to put into words just how influential my time playing volleyball for Elite West was. Elite West taught me many things that go way beyond volleyball. Hard work, perseverance, and resiliency are just a few of those things. Elite West is more than a volleyball club, it really is a family. The relationships that I made at Elite West are lifelong. Your time with Elite West doesn’t finish after you take off your jersey after your last U18 game. The connections with teammates, coaches, parents and competitors will always be there. With the high-level volleyball, strength training, alumni sessions, travelling and team bonding, Elite West is a volleyball club that has a mission that goes beyond simply winning games. This club is about developing great athletes and amazing young people.”

“My experience with EW was incredible. I still look back on some of my most cherished memories; not only winning a provincial championship or national bronze or the trip to Cuba, but the time I spent with my teammates/friends. Playing club volleyball is one of the best times in my sports career because it didn’t feel like “work”, it was fun. Once it got to university volleyball it felt like “work” preparing for who you are playing that week. The coaches created a competition level unlike any other which made practices that much more exciting. Enjoy your time with EW because very few things have compared to my time playing for EW.”

“Volleyball has provided me with numerous extraordinary opportunities. I have been extremely fortunate to play volleyball at nearly every competitive level including high school, club, USport, and National Team. Through these experiences I have travelled the world, met thousands of people and above all learned so much about myself and my capabilities. Simply put, this all began with Elite West and the amazing people who represent it - Brad Kilb, Bonnie Macrea-Kilb, Fraser Macleod, Florine Crancium and many others. Long story short, the individuals I mentioned above have ultimately made this dream of a volleyball career possible. Apart from my parents, I can say without a doubt that these individuals have made some of the most significant and meaningful contributions to my life. Beyond their direct contributions, they have also connected me with several individuals who have and continue to impact my life in remarkable ways. Their belief in me as a person and athlete provided me with the confidence and determination to persevere, compete and in most peoples opinions overachieve in the sport of volleyball. These people and this club have developed a best in class culture, incomparable to any other club I have ever been associated with. This club and their coaches are focussed on building good people with character, morals and accountability. The life lessons I learned from these coaches during the critical personal growth period of 15-18 years old have been invaluable in my development as an athlete, coach, leader, teammate, academic and human being."
